The 78th Independence Day celebrations at Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School spanned a week, beginning on August 10th. The festivities involved students from all grades and featured a variety of activities leading up to the main event.
To kick off the celebration, the Interact Club organized a bulletin board decoration project with the theme ‘Viksit Bharat’, highlighting the spirit of Independence and development. Students creatively decorated their classroom bulletin boards to reflect this theme. Additionally, the Karuna Club hosted a plastic-free flag-making event for students in grades VI to VIII, aimed at raising environmental awareness.
In preparation for the occasion, the students of the KG section were dressed in the colours of the national flag, fostering a sense of patriotism from a young age. The students of Primary were tasked with creating scrapbooks showcasing India’s glory, further enhancing their engagement with the celebration.
The main event on August 15th began with a Flag Hoisting ceremony, accompanied by the Flag Song. This was followed by a disciplined March Past by the NCC cadets, demonstrating their coordination and commitment.
Our esteemed Principal, Mrs. Vidyalakshmi S, released a booklet on Param Vir Chakra awardees, meticulously prepared by the students of Std VIII. The cover page was beautifully designed by M. Dhiya of Std IX. Primary students, dressed as notable figures from the freedom movement, delivered speeches highlighting their pivotal contributions to India’s independence. This was followed by a vibrant dance performance by Standard XI students, which displayed their creativity and deep sense of national pride.
The event’s highlight was Principal Vidyalakshmi’s inspiring speech, which emphasized the importance of Independence Day and encouraged students to uphold cultural values, work with enthusiasm and embrace team spirit.
The Independence Day celebrations were a truly inspiring event, leaving a lasting impression and reinforcing the spirit of national pride and unity.
