The 19^th edition of the Sankara Model United Nations (SANMUN 2024), Chennai’s oldest Model UN conference for schools, took place on the 17^th and 18^th of August 2024. This year’s event saw the participation of 240 students from 26 schools. The conference was inaugurated by Mr. Vijay Sankar, the Trustee of the school, Chairman of the Sanmar Group and Honorary Consul General of Denmark in Chennai. He was joined by Managing Trustee Mr. Kumar, Principal Mrs. Vidyalakshmi S and Academic Advisor Mrs. Mita Venkatesh. The theme for this year’s conference was ‘A New World Order’, with the motto ‘Acta Non Verba’ guiding the proceedings. Six committees were featured: The Illuminati, The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, The United Nations Human Rights Council, The All India Political Parties Meet, The World Trade Organisation and The International Press Corps.

Led by Secretary General Arvind Iyengar and Director General Pranoy Jyoti Medhi, with coordination from MUN Coordinator Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Balaji, the event was supported by a team of experienced Executive Board Members. The conference concluded with an awards ceremony where the Principal and Vice Principals felicitated the winners.

Chettinad Vidyashram was awarded the Best Delegation, while P.S. Senior Secondary School secured the Runner-Up position.
