Mr. Padmanabhan Seshaiyar , Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Science, Program Director Computational Mathematics, Director, STEM Accelerator Program, Director, COMPLETE ( Centre for Outreach in Mathematics Professional Learning and Educational Technology, Professor, Department of Mathematical Sciences, George Mason University, Aluminus of our School of 1989 12th batch, conducts workshop for  the students and teachers,  every time he visits Chennai.  On 8th April, 2022,  he brought along another alumini of the same batch, Mr. Balasubramanian, Head of Applications, (Salesforce, ORACLE) at Redis. They both made the students experience failure through activities and the importance of celebrating failure. They emphasized   that one who fails more number of times and the early one fails, he is nearer to success. This is a valuable lesson to be learnt by all.

He gave a brief story of his research student who worked on mathematical epidemiology  by mathematically modelling the covid situation and trying to understand  it. He narrated the story of the person who discovered that cholera was spread by water and not by air ( which was the then belief).  Both of them had used mathematics to solve a real life problem.

He motivated the students to take up work which creates an impact rather than just being happy or earning more.
