ZERO WASTE INITIATIVE

Our school in collaboration with AWCEM foundation has started the zero waste drive in the school campus. This initiative aims at segregation of wastes into different categories and also plans to decompose the organic waste generated in the campus. Two kinds of bins are stationed at various points in each floor and the students will dispose the plastic, paper and stationary waste together in one bin and the food waste in another. The plastic, paper and stationary waste will be further segregated by the house keeping staffs and periodically sent for recycling through the AWCEM foundation. The food waste and organic waste will be decomposed in a three tier composting bin with the help of bioenzymes. An Orientation programme was conducted by the representative from AWCEM foundation for the teachers and student volunteers for the smooth functioning of the drive. The student volunteers are working on a daily basis to educate fellow students of classes I – XII on waste segregation.
